DUPLINE SILK FASHION STORE, Md.
(Reuters) — When it comes to cutting costs, it’s no longer possible to buy only a “silk fabric” — silk that’s woven by hand.
That’s because as the world’s economy slows down, the need for silk has surged.
But silk fabrics are increasingly being manufactured in factories that are making more and more of them, and that means there are fewer and fewer fabrics that need to be made by hand anymore.
“Silk is one of the most important fabrics in the world.
It’s so versatile,” said Debbie Dufione, a silk product consultant who runs a silk fabric manufacturing company.
“Silk fabrics have been used in everything from jewelry to clothing, and you can make an incredible variety of silk fabrics.
We’ve got a lot of silk fabric in our closet.”
The global textile industry is a $3.6 trillion business, with an estimated $300 billion of products in the United States alone.
Dufioni Silk Fabric specializes in silk, a durable, durable fabric that’s also an important source of fiber.
Its website says it makes its silk “from 100% organic cotton.”
That means its silk is not synthetic fibers, and it is not manufactured by any single supplier.
“We can’t use a single brand, we can’t buy a single fabric, we have to find a way to combine our different fabrics,” said Dufisoni Silk.
Duh!
Dufionis silk fabric can be purchased in the U.S. for around $10, and is more affordable than the cheaper but synthetic silk available elsewhere, Dufonis said.
That means it can be made in factories across the country, and the price tag is much less than $15, which is the price of a new pair of jeans, or even a pair of shoes.
Dusiois silk has been in the fabric market for almost 20 years, Difonis silk is produced in a single factory in St. Louis.
The company has more than 1,000 workers.
“It’s so efficient, and its so cheap, that it’s been very successful,” Dufinissi Silk said.
In fact, in a recent study, researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, along with their collaborators in Germany, found that workers at Dufianis silk factories earn an average of $12.50 per hour, and workers at other factories earn $19.50.
“If you are an employee at the factory and you want to make your own silk, you can’t find a better deal than Dufiois,” said David Stansfield, a senior textile analyst with research firm Gartner Inc. Dua Silk has been the world leader in silk for years.
It has about 1,600 employees and is the biggest silk fabric maker in the country.
The average salary for a worker there is about $65,000, according to a company statement.
Dusa silk is woven from 100% cotton and has a price tag of about $40 per yard.
Dufonisti Silk is also making more silk, but that’s a different story.
The fabric is made from 100 percent wool.
“That’s why it’s so cheap,” said Diane Dufonti, Dua’s CEO.
“When we buy it, we want it to be of the highest quality and the lowest cost.”
The company makes its wool fabrics in an in-house facility in St Louis.
That facility employs about 150 workers, but there are other suppliers in the region that are also making Dufi Silk fabrics, and Dufons silk is also available in smaller quantities in other countries, such as Italy.
“For the average American, that’s really a great value,” said Stansfields.
Duffonis Silk has a long history.
In the 1950s, when Dufonia Silk was first being made, Dusi was a small factory that produced a limited number of fabric samples.
But when the textile industry began to take off, the company realized it needed to create a larger fabric.
“The textile industry was very much like an automobile industry, it was a manufacturing company,” Dusioni said.
“I remember going into the factory, thinking, Oh, my God, I’ve never seen anything like this.
It was just something that was new and very exciting.”
The company grew into a global fabric company, but the fiber it makes is more expensive than other fabrics.
Duffons silk fabric has been sold in stores in the past, but Dufoni Silk does not make the fiber itself.
Instead, the fabric is processed into a special synthetic fiber called Nylon Nylon, or nylon, which can be cut into many different fabrics, including woven fabric.
The fiber is then blended into different fabrics to make garments like turtlen
